UPPER PRIMARY

小学高年级

Our classes are focused on teaching your kids proper exam techniques, with a focus on the common minefields - composition, comprehension and oral. Our highly experienced teachers will guide your child and help them avoid common mistakes.

In upper primary, a strong vocabulary base is critical for success, and it's important that your child remembers the words from his current level as well as from lower primary. Our personalised learning system tracks what words your child needs to revise, and automatically helps your child revise.

Focus On Exam Techniques

Composition, Comprehension and Oral are the three areas that students lose the most marks as they are both technique-based and reliant on students having a firm vocabulary foundations.

Our upper primary school syllabus is put together by a team of curriculum experts with intimate knowledge of the latest MOE curriculum, with a greater focus on Composition, Comprehension and Oral.

At the same time, our classes are led by experienced and engaging teachers who know how to motivate your children while teaching them the exam techniques needed to succeed.

The combination of academically rigorous material with engaging teachers and classroom will ensure your child excels at Chinese while still enjoying it.

Building a Strong Vocabulary Base

A Personalised Vocabulary Learning System

Building a strong vocabulary base is essential to success in primary school, and many of the problems students face with the "killer areas" (oral, composition and comprehension) stem from a weak vocabulary foundation.

A common problem that many parents face is getting their kids to remember words long-term. Most kids can memorise words for tomorrow's spelling, but tend to forget within a week. This is a common problem, as research has shown we tend to forget half of what we learn by tomorrow and forget 80% within a week.

That is why we have spent the last 5 years developing a AI-powered vocabulary system that help your child lock in vocabulary long-term. The system automatically tracks what your child knows, and intelligently recommends the right words to revise.

With just a few minutes a day, your child will dramatically improve his or her vocabulary and reading skills, making learning Chinese easy.

My daughter, Caitlyn, has been attending classes at KidsStartNow for more than 3 years. We like the way the classes are conducted and that KidStartNow has very good and dedicated teachers. We found that it takes into account that many students are from homes that are predominantly English-speaking and tailor its approach accordingly. There are serious studies, even pitched at the Higher Chinese level, infused with an element of fun, especially for the younger ones. If you have any doubts or queries, just speak to the principal, Dan, or the Centre Manager, Kate, and they will always make time to talk to you.

Caitlyn is doing Higher Chinese in Primary 4 this year and does not get much help at home because we are an English-speaking family. Her parents are away at work in the day, so her afternoons at home are supervised by Grandma who can barely speak Mandarin, much less offer Caitlyn any help. KidStartNow has been good for her and she has consistently scored well in her school exams. She has had the same teacher at KidStartNow all these years. Caitlyn may not always be a model student, but her teacher believes strongly in guiding, motivating and encouraging while remaining firm. I can see her care and concern that her students fare well in school and also manage their attitudes positively.
